Bell’s Palsy Physiotherapy and Osteopathy Treatment in London. Physiotherapist and Osteopaths for Facial Palsy Rehabilitation.
Neuro Physiotherapist in London treating Bell’s Palsy also called Facial Palsy
Our neuro physiotherapists and osteopaths at Excellence Physiotherapy are highly skilled and qualified in working with Bell’s Palsy and peripheral facial palsy patients. With a vast amount of knowledge and experience in this area of expertise, they have been treating patients with Bell’s Palsy for years and have amazing results reducing facial palsy symptoms and discomfort. While our neuro physio will use facial stimulation, facial muscles strengthening and tensions release techniques, our osteopath uses cranial osteopathy techniques to help rebalance the tensions around the facial nerve. For the best result, we advise our patients to combine these two complementary treatments.
What is Bell’s Palsy?
Bell’s Palsy also known as acute peripheral facial palsy is a condition where the lower facial nerve is inflamed under its nucleus. As a result of this inflammation or lesion, the structures serviced by this nerve are paralysed. This leads to experiencing a decreased facial sensitivity, drooping of one corner of the mouth or loss of taste altogether. There could be other symptoms of Bell’s Palsy (Facial Palsy).
Should you wish to discuss, please contact us at London Home Visit Physiotherapy. Our neuro physiotherapists and osteopaths have achieved excellent results in reducing the symptoms.

Facial Palsy & Bell’s Palsy Osteopathy and Physiotherapy Treatment, what you need to know.
How does neuro physiotherapy help for facial palsy (Bell’s Palsy)?
Our neuro-physiotherapist in London will begin your treatment with a full assessment of your Bell’s Palsy, followed by creating a tailor-made facial treatment plan and facial exercises that you will do with your physio and at home in-between session so you can maximise the benefits of your therapy. Physio exercises programs for facial palsy usually focus on stimulation and strengthening of the facial muscles that have lost tone and relaxation exercises for antagonists facial muscles that are over contracted.
How does osteopathy help for facial palsy (Bell’s Palsy)?
Our osteopath will apply carefully selected cranial osteopathy techniques to help rebalance the tensions around the facial nerve and physiotherapy to stimulate and strengthen the muscles around the area.
At Excellence physiotherapy, we use combined osteopathy and physiotherapy methods for treatment of Bell’s Palsy (Facial Palsy) which has been proven to be the best combination of treatment for this condition.
What are the symptoms of Bell’s Palsy and Facial Palsy?
The symptoms associated with Peripheral Facial Palsy and more specifically with Bell’s Palsy, can be recognised on motor level. Most commonly this condition affects the facial symmetry. One of the eyes will be more open than the other or won’t be able to close completely, the wrinkles on the patient’s forehead may disappear or one of the corners of the mouth may be drooping. In addition to these easily recognised symptoms, a sufferer of Bell’s Palsy may experience loss of taste, extremely dry eyes and complete loss or reduced sensitivity in the face.
What are the causes of Bell’s Palsy and Peripheral Facial Palsy
The exact cause of Bell’s Palsy, also known as acute peripheral facial palsy, is unknown. It is believed that some of the causes could be physical trauma such as a fracture of the temporal bone, recent surgery near the nerve or a tumour. It also might be a reaction of a viral infection such as herpes – zoster virus which has been known to affect the nerves related by the paralysis. Diabetes could also be a cause for paralysis of the facial nerve.
