Osteopathy and pregnancy in London, Osteopath for women and pregnant women in London
While pregnancy is a happy event for most women, it can also be very challenging. Hormonal and postural changes, combined with the extra weight of the baby, put a lot of strain on your body. The changes in your joints, muscles and ligaments can cause pain and discomfort. Most women will experience lower back pain. Other conditions that are common include pelvic pain, sciatica, breathing problems, indigestion and constipation. Painkillers and other medicine isn’t advisable during pregnancy, so the best way to treat these symptoms is through physiotherapy and osteopathy.
Osteopathy is a holistic approach, which works on the integral structure of your body, and looking at how bones, muscles and connective tissues work together, restores your body to a balance. It works towards fixing the root causes of your condition instead of just treating the symptoms.
During the pregnancy, osteopathy can help alleviate the pain and discomfort described above. It can also help you prepare for labour for an easier and less painful delivery. After giving birth, osteopathy can help with recovery after a difficult delivery, and also help resolve any joint injuries or postural changes that occurred during pregnancy. With osteopathy, the need for medication after giving birth will also decrease.
