The Different Massages that our Physios Can Do
Deep Tissue Massage ( London )
Deep Tissue Massage is one of the best and most effective ways to treat injury and chronic pain such as back pain, stiff neck, sore shoulders or repetitive strain injury. It works by realigning deeper layers of muscle and tissue, which can develop from injury, overuse or bad posture.
Deep pressure is applied with slow movements on the painful and tense areas in order to break down the adhesions formed in your muscles and tendons and thus relax the affected muscles and restore pain free movement. The physiotherapist may use their fingers, knuckles, hands or even elbows to reach that deep tissue, which may result in temporary soreness. This shouldn’t worry you, as all these methods are effective and the soreness, caused by the muscles releasing tension, will fade very quickly.
Sports Massage ( London )
Whether you are a professional athlete, a marathon runner or a casual gym goer, you can benefit from sports message.
Apart from being used as part of the rehabilitation process for sport related injuries, sports massage can also help improve flexibility and endurance and reduce muscle fatigue from training. It can be used as part of your preparation for an event or even on a regular basis, in order to reduce recovery time from training and help prevent injuries, thus allowing you to maximise your performance and reach your personal training goals.
Your treatment will be tailored to your sport of choice and the specific muscle groups used for it. We will focus on the areas that are strained and overused to relieve stress and improve mobility.
Swedish Massage ( London )
Swedish massage is the most common western massage technique. It is both relaxing and invigorating, affecting the muscles, nerves and circulation in your body, resulting in the release of physical and emotional stress.
The five different strokes are applied in the direction of the heart, following the circulatory system. This way, blood flow is increased and toxins are released from the muscles. During the session, the physiotherapist will work an all major muscle groups of your body, addressing any particular issues you are worried about.
Swedish massage can target specific areas, where you had an injury or experience chronic pain, including pain resulting from conditions such as arthritis.
If you are an Axa or Bupa patient, you cannot book online. Please call our office with your authorisation number.
