What involves a posture correction physiotherapy rehabilitation?
Our posture physiotherapist will start with a full assessment of the body and posture in order to determine the cause of the issues the patient is experiencing. From this assessment starts a personalised posture correction program, including realignment exercises, muscles strengthening and massages in order to reduce the pain. Other exercises are also taught to the patient so they know how to move and sit correctly, preventing them from any relapse or injury.
It’s also possible to teach athletes good posture exercises and advices in order to improve their performances in a healthy way, so they can workout and train a safe as possible.
Why posture correction is important?
By not standing straight or sitting down for long hours at desks, whether it’s at work or at school, most people are in risk of developing issues and chronic pain towards the back and the neck. But that’s not it – on a long-term basis, other complications can appear: fatigue, reduced breathing capacity and performance.
How is adopting a good posture so important?
By keeping a straight and good posture, it will keep muscles, ligaments, bones and internal organs aligned, reducing pain in the joints and relieving any sights of tension or stress. It will also help increase your breathing capacity, will make you sleep and feel better.
What is the goal of posture correction physiotherapy?
There are some simple steps that you can do to reduce back pain during the day, like taking a break from your desk or computer every hour. But being able to achieve a straight posture and alignment is more complicated and needs the help of a physiotherapist who will tailor exercises program to trigger weak muscles and automatism specific to you.
As pain tends to manifest itself in different parts of the body than where it’s manifesting initially and where usually the real cause is, most people don’t realise their chronic pain is due to poor posture. Physiotherapy will be able to determine the cause and will rebalance the body by working on different parts of it to give you back a comfortable and pain-free posture.
